Hassan Shehata, Egypt’s head coach, announced that Egypt’s flamboyant playmaker Mohamed AbouTrika will be excluded from the squad that will participate in the upcoming ACN Angola 2010.
The player felt pain while jogging with the national team in the same place of the injury during the preparations of the national team.
The physicians said that the player will have to rest for an additional period in order to recover his injury.
Shehata added that the player’s participation in Angola 2010 is impossible. However, the player may travel with the team in order to give the players a psychological boost.
Shehata also said that he requested the player’s acquisition in order to perform his medical program with his colleagues in the national team in case he recovers before the cup.
AbouTrika, who scored the winner in ACN Egypt 2006 and ACN Ghana 2008 finals, was injured during Algeria’s encounter in the FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 Qualifiers with a crack in his foot that was found to need at least 6 weeks of rest to recover.
