Report: AbouTrika is still the most popular player in the world

Mohamed AbouTrika, Al Ahly's and Egypt's brilliant midfielder, is still the most popular player in the world for the second consecutive year after earning the first place in the vote of the IFFHS having 301,837 votes.
After brutal competition with the Honduras and Benfica FC striker David Suazo who got 283,829 votes, AbouTrika snatched the first place in the last month of the 3 month period of the vote.
The Brazilian Marcos who plays for Palmeras got the third place ahead of the Sudanese Faisal El Agab.
On the other hand, Hosni Abd Rabo, Ahly Dubai's and Egypt's midfielder, got the 23rd place after earning 4833 votes.
AbouTrika won the same title in 2007 after exceeding the million votes and got a huge lead ahead of Yasser El Qahtani the Saudi Arabian striker.
The IFFHS official site praised AbouTrika saying:
"The 30-year-old Egyptian Mohamed AbouTrika, a brilliant technician and playmaker, who is also dangerous in front of goal with Al-Ahly Cairo and the Egyptian national team, led both teams to the victory in the continental championship on club and selected level in 2008. He is a pleasant and modest player, who in spite of offers not left his home country. Mohamed AbouTrika is the great idol of the Egyptian football and undoubtedly the best footballer in the Arab world. Being voted in 2008, for the 2nd time in succession, as the World‘s most Popular Footballer amongst active Players is confirmation of his popularity beyond national boundaries."
The outstanding moral AbouTrika won 15 club titles with Al Ahly since he joined the team in 2004:
- Bronze Medalist at FIFA Club World Cup 2006
- CAF Champions League (2005), (2006), (2008).
- Egyptian League (2004-2005), (2005-2006), (2006-2007), (2007-2008).
- African Super Cup (2006), (2007).
- Egyptian Soccer Cup (2006), (2007).
- Egyptian Super Cup (2005), (2006), (2007), (2008).
On the other hand, He won 2 continental titles with Egypt which are:
- African Cup of Nations Ghana 2008.
