The CAF released a detailed report on their official website with the exact choice of each of the continent’s managers.
Arsenal striker Adebayor came first with 74 points, closely followed by Ahly star Abutreika with 53 points. Chelsea’s tenacious midfielder Essien came third with 36 points. Zaki and Drogba shared fourth position with 25 points each.
Treika was listed first by 13 managers, including Egypt manager Shehata who gave first position to the Ahly legend. Shehata’s second choice was fellow countryman Amr Zaki.
Meanwhile, El Badry told ahlynews.com that he is disappointed that Abutreika didn’t win the award. He believes that managers chose Adebayor solely because he plays for a club like Arsenal.
